Bangladesh Diesel Plant (BDP) Limited was an enterprise of Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (BSEC) under the Ministry of Industries. The then Pakistan govt started its Construction work in 1967 with technical assistance from Klockner Humboldt Deutz (KHD) and financial assistance from KFW, Germany. The aim was to manufacture 'Deutz' brand Diesel Engines of different capacities. On 25th June 1980 the plant was commissioned. The company was incorporated under the Register of Joint Stock Companies on11th November 1981 and its the dare of commencement of business was same. After 22 of years of operation, BDP Ltd was closed down on 31 Dec 2002 with an accumulated loss of Tk 74 Cr due to many reasons.
